Do not read it if you are easily offended. This might help someone. If might even help me. Twelve days ago I had my contraceptive device removed. I expected some bleeding after its removal. I was wrong and she was wrong. Instead, I am now on Day 10 of the most horrendous blood loss I have ever experienced.

Blood clots the size of golf balls have become a regular occurrence. It is so violent I have found myself in supermarket queues with blood soaked pants wishing for the ground to swallow me up. Gushes of blood have become so normal I have started not leaving the house for longer than half an hour blocks, too nervous of a repeat performance. Today, alone, I have changed my tampon and accompanying maxi pad five times in five hours.

And this is Day There are no signs of this abating. And I count myself lucky. I work from home, which helps, and I have a supportive husband who can step in when I need to rush to the toilet, again and again. What about the women who do not have a support network? What about the women who have to stand for long hours for their job? The ones who have to take public transport to and from work, who sit there squirming in their seat?

Is this blood loss normal? Will it stop soon? Is there anything I can do to make it possible to leave the house? Why was I not not pre-warned about this? I went to a different Doctor yesterday and asked her what she thought. She too had no answers. I have a strong suspicion that no-one really does. And they should know. A term I beg to differ on. Heart palpitations. You name it. Since its removal you can read about that here , my whole demeanour has changed.

Instantly, I felt a weight lifted. Instantly, I felt happier, less anxious. The heart palpitations stopped. I stopped craving food with such ferocity. It was instant, how much better I felt. I walked lighter. I just want it to stop. I am so drained. In my personal experience, the Mirena has been a complete disaster from start to finish. I just wish there was more information out there for the people whose bodies do not react positively.

For people like me. Has this happened to anybody else? Since writing this post I have done an update — you can read it here.

    Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego

I also loved the clear pick-up bags we got. Gear check was a breeze—remember to bring the clear bags and zip ties from the expo. Just like the 5k from the previous day, runners were divided into multiple corrals—at least 25 corrals, marked by giant guitar picks get it? Rock and roll? One implementation I really admired was the staggered corral starts. Most races will release entire corrals are released at once.

This way, you can launch out of the start line into a more wide-open road! I hope this practice becomes more commonplace. I think the elevation change can be best described as gentle rolling hills, with a few bigger hills sprinkled throughout—nothing too extreme. It thinned the crowds a bit, but I think it came early enough in the course that I felt fresh enough to speed through.

The hills before and after mile 10, right as you re-enter the northeast corner of Balboa Park, caught me a bit off guard. The good news? Water support was strong throughout the course. I think there were port-a-potties, but I was too locked-in to notice.

Post-race: -Once you cross the finish-line, grab your finisher medal and a great selection of refreshments: water, banana, multiple brands of granola bars, a fresh cookie, chips salt is an underrated part of recovery!

Runners are funneled several blocks down Ash St towards the waterfront finish festival. All this while music blasts to keep you on your feet if you need. Swag: -The Half Marathon was a dark blue tech shirt, with multiple San Diego neighborhood signs highlighted in yellow and orange. The Half Marathon medal is a round replica of the North Park sign in light-blue, with a bright orange ribbon attached. Way cool. Both medals have an outlined area on the back for engraving if you want to record your time or celebrate a PR.

The race was well-produced, and full of little details guitar pick corral signs, corral mini-waves, on-course entertainment, a disco tunnel, an expansive finish line festival, etc.

I also remember one of the words in the opening lines of the song: underwear.

    TLT – Morena [MP3]

I wonder why it was taken down and when. But it is best you never watch it. The song was a torture. It was one of the worst songs I have ever heard but better than many new releases nowadays. The accompanying music video was bad too. No point going back over that.

Karen Bordador should have just concentrated being sexy and promoting the use of condoms.

    The Mirena Disaster

Because the song is already non-existent. Believe me, I tried my best to find the music video to the song, but it has already been lost. But if you are curious, let me check. Right now please pray that your favorite celebrity keeps away from drugs or any other illegal activities. Pray for Karen Bordador.
